We’re located in West San Jose, in a great location near I-280 and Saratoga Avenue, right between Cupertino and Campbell.
5 minutes from Westgate Mall, Mitsuwa Market, and Lion Market.
10 minutes or less to Apple’s main campus, several of their other campuses, downtown Campbell and Santana Row. 15 minutes or less to Downtown San Jose and San Jose International Airport.
Central heating and air conditioning. We have solar panels on the roof which helps minimize electricity costs, especially during the summer when the AC is running.
Pleasant backyard with a deck and peach tree, all surrounded by a privacy fence. Lots of space for planting for anyone interested in gardening. Good spot for relaxing outside on the days when it’s not too hot and not too cold. We have a small backyard fireplace and enjoy occasional nights out on the deck together. We also have a grill and a smoker, for those that like to BBQ.
Relatively new LG washer and dryer, refrigerator, and water heater.

The housemates:
My wife and I are both 41. I am an aviation professional with work that takes me all over the western United States. Currently, my work is a mix of working from home, my office, and having to be on location. My interests include: hiking, backpacking, biking, rock climbing, running, reading, board games, video games, movies, beer, and wine. Besides English, I also speak a little German.
My wife mostly works from home at the moment. She enjoys spending her time staying in touch with her friends. She also does a lot of cooking. Besides English, she also speaks fluent Cantonese and some Mandarin.
Our dog is a 7 year old male Pembrooke Welsh Corgi named Bruce. He is well behaved, although when he is first getting to know you, he might be a little talkative. He has good energy and loves people. He usually gets along well with other dogs, but he does get a little protective when it comes to his food and his toys. Unfortunately, he does not do well with cats. Due to one of our past housemates not working out primarily due to incompatible dogs, we're not accepting any other dogs at this time.
The third bedroom is an acquaintance we know who has moved back to the Bay Area for work and to be closer to his family. He mostly keeps to himself.
The room:
The room is approximately 10 ft x 11 ft. Lots of natural light in the rooms, with windows overlooking the backyard. The windows face to the north, so the room doesn’t get too hot on summer evenings. The two bedrooms being rented share a full bathroom with bathtub/shower. There is an ample closet within the room, a linen closet just outside the shared bathroom, and each tenant will have use of half of the large hall closet on the second floor. In addition, there is a coat closet by the front door for everyone’s use.
The room is single occupancy only. We’re ok with the occasional overnight guest, but no more than 3 nights in a two week period.
We are looking for someone who is respectful and works with us to help keep the common areas clean and picks up after themselves. We take our shoes off inside the house, and smoking of any kind is only allowed outside.
The rent is $1400 a month for the room + split utilities. Internet would be split 3 ways, and electric/gas/water would be split 4 ways. We also hire a housekeeper once a month, who cleans all of the common areas. The security deposit would be $1400.
Our main lease runs from Oct 1st to Sept 30th, and we've already renewed with the homeowner. Ideally, we're looking for a longer term housemate, but we are also willing to consider shorter terms.
