We’re a diverse community of researchers, academics, writers, students, artists, musicians, philanthropists, and other professionals who share commitments to lifelong learning and to furthering common good.
Our “household” (which occupies three adjacent homes) is relatively large and diverse in age (23-88), occupation (see paragraph above), and facilities (workshop, music room, home gym, yoga/dance studio, outdoor porches and yards). We’ve exceptional opportunities to generate satisfaction at home, even if interactions in the world beyond again become pandemic-limited. One of us is a is a certified yoga instructor; another is a social dance enthusiast; others are musicians with 10-55 years of experience. All of us share skills freely.
We’re looking for a responsible, intellectually curious person who feels grateful to be alive and is enthusiastic about contributing to common good. If friends and family tell you you’re warm, open, and fun-loving, you’ll find kindred spirits here.
Each of us has her or his own room. The fees are $1600-16700 (for couples sharing 1.5x) plus a $10 parking fee if you own a car. Fees include utilities, nightly shared suppers, and basic household supplies. We estimate the value of $300-600/month (varies with participation in meals).
Most of us gather nightly at 7pm for supper. Smaller groups often prepare and eat breakfast or lunch together. Each person contributes 4.5 hours/week to keep households clean and orderly, to dinner preparation and clean-up, and to other community tasks.
We founded our community and an associated public service organization fifty years ago with the purpose of working together for health—our own and others’, cooperation—within the community and in the world beyond, and environmental stewardship—evidenced by our own everyday actions and by our advocacy. If you think you’ll enjoy creating this kind of community with us, please be in touch.
