Room: $1,417/mo & 225 sqft (~13.5ft L ~13.5W) plus closet and seldom used upstairs landing (photos coming soon!). The security deposit is $1287.50. The room has 3 east-facing windows and is the only bedroom upstairs (read: quiet). If you like the sound of our house, but this room is a bit out of your price range, we are open to shifting rooms around to make a less expensive one ($1230) avail.
COSTS: Wifi, PGE, cleaning products, some shared food items (butter/condiments and more if we all want to), and air and water filters: ~$70 on average per month, when the heat is on this can get up to $200 if we are running it consistently.
Access Details:
We have one medium poodle mix, some fish, and one tiny cat. We limit scented products, harsh chemicals, and reduce waste. HEPA filter air purifiers in common spaces. There are 5 steps to enter the home. A small shared upstairs landing area is up 15 narrow steps. We share 2 off-street parking spaces.
House/Neighborhood:
Our home is recently updated with about 1,200 sq ft of shared space: living room, dining room, large kitchen, two shared full bathrooms, and communal upstairs space. Storage space in the house is very limited, but we do have a basement. We have a fenced-in front yard (lots of plants and raised beds with veggies and herbs) and a small enclosed back yard (needs tending).
We live on Stanford Ave (busy street) in the Golden Gate neighborhood in North Oakland (full spectrum of races, ages, genders, families, houseless folx, locals and gentrifiers) one block from the best Ethiopian restaurant, Cafe Colucci, and a Food Market (Gazzali’s). We are less than a mile from I-80 and Trader Joes, and ~1 mi to either Berkeley Bowl. There is a 72 bus stop at the end of our block and we are ~1 mi from Ashby BART.
COVID:
We are covid realists and only share indoor air with people who have masked in public spaces for 5 days prior or have taken a PlusLife test. We have one PlusLife machine and are open to getting a second to support travel etc. We also take a PlusLife test together once a week. We have a connect for PlusLife tests as well since they are no longer sold to the US.
Who we are:
SD: 34 year old white queer neurospicy anti-Zionist Jew Social Worker working with seniors in the city. I’m a community organizer, thrifter extraordinaire, loves to read, cook, be in nature and who is a busy extrovert and homebody. I have lived here for over a year.
SB: 36, white, ghey, trans, artist with a day job. Neurosplurted. I like to walk the dog, plant things, do house-make-cute things, do clay things. Has lived here for 2.5 years
R: 47 years old, white, queer, nonbinary, intersex, disabled, auDHDer. Human companion to the household's tiny cat. I make art, bake yummy treats, write, and watch a lot of movies. (I like good movies, but I LOVE bad ones.) Has lived here for 5 months
