Well, I tried. Held down the power button for 3 seconds while turned on and after unplugging. Let it sit for a month unplugged. And now, I'm done.
Got it off the street myself and it worked fine, until a few weeks after I plugged in my Chromecast. Reddit blames the Chromecast for frying something. Who knows.
It power cycles within a second of powering on - before any logos appear - and now it's yours. Perfect cosmetic and structural condition, otherwise... I couldn't figure out why the previous owner chose to throw it out. Now I know.
