I am a middle grade/young adult author with two narrative nonfiction books about incredible women coming out with major publishers over the next two years. I am seeking an intern to assist with marketing activities leading up to the launch of my June 2020 book.
Research, evaluate and execute award applications
Contribute to blog, twitter, facebook and other social media as directed
Assist in evaluating relevant trade shows, library and educational conferences and other venues for book promotion
Press Release, article and blog post drafting
Partnership research and outreach
Publishing industry research
Research and evaluate media for potential marketing campaigns
Research and maintain review databases
Research and manage online platform and retailer marketing strategies (GoodReads, Amazon, etc.)
The following could also be included if it falls within the candidate's expertise:

--Marketing materials design
This position is in San Francisco
Undergraduates, recent graduates and grad students with backgrounds in Marketing, Publishing, Public Relations, English, and Journalism are welcome to apply. Interns should be strong writers, creative thinkers, self-motivated, and interested in pursuing a career in publishing or marketing. Interns will be extensively trained. Please note this is an unpaid position, approximately 10-15 hours per week.
Nonfiction books for young readers rarely earn enough revenue to cover the cost of their development, even if they are popular. This project is a labor of love and will almost certainly cost me more in editing and marketing costs than I will earn.
