We have the food; help us to provide it to those who need this basic resource to survive.
Volunteer with us at The Food Pantry and help fight hunger in San Francisco. Hunger knows no borders. Every Friday, over 500 individuals and families travel from all corners of the city to receive vitally needed food for the next week. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and are also solely funded by individual donors.
Volunteer for a few hours, the entire day, or drop by when you have the time! Help sort food and set up the pantry, greet our guests, and distribute groceries to our patrons. Volunteers are needed in every area- from stacking sacks of potatoes and organizing produce in the morning, to greeting and providing food to our guests in the afternoon. We have a particular and ongoing need of individuals who are fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, and Spanish in the afternoon.
In operation for over 14 years, The Food Pantry (thefoodpantry.org) has served as a model for food pantries across the city and country. On a weekly basis we provide fresh produce and staples to over 500 hungry families in San Francisco. We are entirely staffed by volunteers and are located in Portrero Hill with easy access to public transportation and free street parking. Volunteer opportunities are available whenever you're available from 8:00 am-3:30 pm. Our current volunteer needs are the greatest during the early morning food load in and during our afternoon food distribution- come hand out food, help fill the tables, and greet patrons.
Join us and make a positive contribution to eradicating hunger in San Francisco.
