IT Tech Support (SOMA / south beach)

I'm seeking a self-motivated person who enjoys providing tech support, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, managing technology platforms and services, and conducting thorough research for effective and appropriate technology solutions. My small team offers professional tech support and consulting services to a medium-sized company based in SF. We work collaboratively, distributing work, advice and ideas amongst each other. Our experiences, skills and interests complement one another.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for providing tech support for Windows desktops, laptops and servers, Mac laptops, iOS and Android devices, printers, scanners and general business hardware and accessories. The work also includes support for mobile broadband and security cameras; coordination with technology vendors; and monitoring endpoint security. Much of the work can be done remotely. There is a requirement to provide on-site tech support in the company office at least two days each week. Some travel may be required to sites on the peninsula and in SF (a car is required for the peninsula sites).

- Experience with popular cloud storage apps, including Microsoft OneDrive and Dropbox
- Experience+ with hybrid cloud backup strategies
- Experience+ with cybersecurity solutions and best practices
- Proficiency+ with Windows Server, Active Directory
- Proficiency+ with Microsoft Exchange, Azure, and Defender

Requirements:

Preference will be given to candidates who have appropriate Microsoft certifications OR studying for certifications; have an associate degree in computer science or similar technology field; and at least four years of tech support experience.You must be available for on-demand support requests for at least three days per week (remote and/or on-site), in addition to recurring and ongoing projects. You must be available to provide on-site tech support in the company office at least two days each week.

Contract:

This is a 1099 position and an open-ended contract that offers scheduling flexibility, with the potential for W-2 employment and/or increased administrative responsibilities. Work is typically done during business hours, however there is the possibility that work needs to be done outside regular business hours. You must have your own computer, internet connection, and a reliable mobile communication device. Travel may be required to the peninsula. Compensation for travel time is offered.
