I have a working pair of Powerline Ethernet adapters. Plug one into any AC outlet, plug the other into another AC outlet, and you effectively get a direct virtual Ethernet connection between the two locations. That saves you from having to install Ethernet cables. Note: Speeds are slower than with a direct wired Ethernet connection, but it's still reasonably fast (supports HD video streaming) and very affordable, and it's more reliable than WiFi in most cases. Add $5 for two new Ethernet jumper cables.
