I’m looking for an architect and structural engineer to help convert an existing basement in a San Francisco single-family home into legal, habitable bedroom space.
Project Overview:
• Existing basement in a single-family residence
• Goal: code-compliant, habitable bedroom and living space
• Structural modifications may be required to meet minimum ceiling height and SF code (preference to minimize excavation where feasible)
• Plans and drawings needed for City of San Francisco (DBI) permitting
• Experience with SF basement conversions and foundation work strongly preferred
Scope May Include:
• As-built drawings and architectural plans for habitable space
• Structural drawings for foundation or excavation work (if needed)
• Code compliance guidance (ceiling height, egress, light/ventilation)
• Coordination between architect and structural engineer (or single firm)
Ideal Candidate:
• Licensed architect and/or structural engineer
• SF residential experience
• Budget-conscious and practical
• Clear communication and realistic timelines
