IT Systems & Data Migration/Integration Engineer (Local-First NAS + Email + Mobile Integration)
Location: Onsite in San Francisco
Description: Physician transitioning from clinical practice to non-profit seeking an experienced IT professional to execute a HIPAA-compliant, local-first data consolidation and infrastructure upgrade. The project includes:
• Consolidating ~2TB of mixed-format data (PST/OST email archives, documents, photos, videos, audio, legacy SAS datasets) from NAS, PCs, external drives, backups, OneDrive, and iPhone.
• Reconfiguring NAS for HIPAA compliance, encryption, redundancy, and secure local-first backups.
• Preserving historical Outlook POP PST structure while integrating multiple IMAP accounts.
• Cleaning up OneDrive sync duplication and removing PHI from public cloud.
• Integrating iPhone workflows for direct NAS saving, photo edit syncing, and secure PHI transfer.
• Organizing and tagging data for future self-hosted AI platform use.
• Providing ongoing IT support during the project to maintain daily operations.
This role requires hands-on on-site work in the discovery and initial setup phases, followed by remote or hybrid support.
Required Skills:
• Proven HIPAA-compliant infrastructure design & PHI handling experience.
• NAS configuration (Synology/QNAP) with encryption & audit logging.
• Multi-format data deduplication & organization.
• Microsoft Outlook PST/OST management.
• OneDrive configuration & cleanup.
• Strong Windows Server/Linux file system knowledge.
Preferred: SAS dataset handling, AI-ready data structuring, RAID optimization, healthcare IT experience a plus.
Compensation:
$75-100 per hour DOE.
