Coliving in the Heart of San Francisco ❤️
We are a joyous, vibrant community of adults, kids, and families.
We live in a beautiful, renovated house overlooking the Panhandle Park. It has 18 bedrooms, 3 kitchens + 9 bathrooms, divided among 3 flats.
We’re looking for housemates who are eager to contribute to building the foundations and the culture of our home.

It Takes a Village
We believe that humans aren’t meant to raise kids - or live - in isolation. For 99% of human history, kids grew up in a village. It’s only in the last hundred years that we’ve shifted to single-family homes - coinciding with rising rates of stress and disconnection.
We believe there’s a better way. That’s why we’re putting “it takes a village” into practice. The Village is a mini-village where people come together to share the highs and the lows of raising the next generation.
The House
We have 18 bedrooms, spread out among 3 connected flats, and a backyard space.
We also have:
A Moroccan-style tea lounge (it's beautiful!)
An in-house workout space (it's pretty tiny!)
A large back yard
A kid's play room
Space for art projects, painting, etc
Each floor has 4-6 bedrooms + 3 bathrooms + living room + kitchen + washer/dryer.
Although the house has 3 separate flats, all members move freely between all 3 floors. We operate as one cohesive community.
What your typical day could look like...
- Cooking a large shared meal, together in the kitchen
- Building a puzzles, robots, or legos with the kids
- Chatting about life in the backyard
- Hosting a bookclub with the broader community
- Watching a movie on the projector (with popcorn!)
- Taking the kids and dogs for a walk in Golden Gate Park
- Music jam nights
- A vibrant dinner party for adults once the kids are in bed
The Neighborhood
It doesn’t get much better than this! We are directly on the Golden Gate Panhandle, and the Kids Playground is just steps from our front door. We are walking-distance to multiple parks, large green spaces, restaurants and shops. It’s city life, with bountiful access to nature.
House Culture
We are a mix of people - including individuals, families, couples - who are interested in living in community with children. The people in the house span from tech, artists, authors, intellectuals, and many different flavors in between.
We believe in the "it takes a village to raise a child" philosophy, and that the benefits of this model outweigh the challenges. We aim to raise kids together rather than exasperated and alone, and we dream of being aunties and uncles to each others’ kids. We ease the burden with babysitting, cooking, teaching, and everything in between.
There are currently 4 kids (ages 5, 6, 6, and 7) in the house, plus approximately ~15 adults. There is one dog and we may be able to accept additional animals. We very much welcome people who do not have kids, but are excited about the magic (and realness, and challenge) of living with them.
Our Values
- A safe and loving home
- Play, wonder and experimentation
- The kitchen is the heart of the home
- We celebrate each other’s differences
- Re-envisioning family
- Triumph of the commons
- Systems over blame
- Do-ocracy

We currently have a large bedroom “The Big Easy,” 145 sq ft room available. It's $1350/mo, and it's ready for move-in on November 1st. The exact dimensions are 168x130 inches. This room gets moderate sunlight.
In addition to rent, each resident pays $500/mo in house dues. This covers all your food, utilities, community expenses, monthly house cleaning, furniture, kitchenware, house projects, and so on.
Important note about this room: the room is right next to 2 twin 6 yo boys, who wake up at ~6:30am. They can be quite loud when they wake up. This room is fantastic in all other ways; but is only a good fit for early risers or heavy sleepers.
