ride offered

Offering rides when feasible for people/pets/stuff who otherwise can't use public transit (or it doesn't exist) for various reasons, like:

Traveling plumber (journeyman), had finished working a 3 month gig in Santa Clara (hotel remodel) and needed a ride home to Los Angeles with all of his tools and belongings. Couldn't get on a plane or a bus, as he had way to much gear (whole car full), he found me and we drove. He saved a bunch not having to ship his belongings back home.

A couple lost a key fob for a newer vehicle and needed a round trip ride up to Hayfork (no public transit) to grab a second fob from home. The locksmith quoted extra because they didn't have a working key fob to program the new fob from. A ride to get the extra fob saved them some real change.

A women in Sacramento found a rescue dog on CraigsList, wanted someone to visit the current dog owner in San Jose (during rush hour traffic), inspect the dog (healthy? has teeth? send pics!!) before accepting it, and then deliver the dog to her home in Sacramento. She located me and the dog found a new home (and a much needed bath!!). Many others told her they wouldn't even consider doing such, and my help was far less expensive.

Brazilian couple visiting Tahoe on an extended snowboarding trip, needed a ride back to SFO. They could've taken public transit (Amtrak bus) the day before the scheduled flight, but that would've left them in the city late at night and they would need a room until their departure the next day. Room for a night (and the bus) would've been almost double the cost, and not as convenient.

Couple of 'trimmigrants' needed a ride north into the upper bowels of Humboldt (around Willow Creek, up a long dirt road), with multiple stops along the way for winter gear and work related supplies. The bus would've dropped them in town (Arcata) way late, but wouldn't stop at Target or the garden supply shops along the way. I was able to help them get to their job site, fully prepared and ready for the seasonal weather.

A Father needed an overnight round-trip ride up to Bend Oregon, wanted to visit his 'tween' Son for the first time since being placed in a multi-month wilderness diversion program (how did I miss that as a youth?), the father could've easily afforded the round trip flight, but the timing wasn't right and this way he was able to do extensive laptop work on the way up and back (I've never said so few words before).

Lady with a 'show dog' (pedigreed), needed only the crated dog delivered to another dog handler (near a distant airport) for air travel to a national competition. She has now worked with me numerous times, where I pick up and drop off this dog.

An ad agency needed a creative picked up locally and delivered ASAP down to Redondo Beach, "people are waiting, and time is money". We worked out a rate and they had their needed material in 7 hours from when it was 'actually ready', including rush hour traffic in LA.

Of course this doesn't work for all people or fiscal situations.
