Intro Jazz Guitar Lessons (inner richmond)

I'm a local guitar and upright bassist in SF and I run a couple of jazz jams around town. I teach jazz music lessons focused on getting players comfortable playing in group settings. I'm looking for new students.

My lessons focus on learning how to play tunes and solo over changes. This includes things like learning common forms, intros/outros, soloing, playing over changes, swing, maintaining solid time, playing various styles, trading 4s, 8s, etc. We'll be playing typical jazz standards that are played around town (mostly from the Real Book (Vol. 1, 2, 3, & 4). I have a collection of books to use but I recommend students buy their own books.). Reading music will be a part of the process but if you're new to that don't be scared by it. Music theory will also be covered along the way as we work up a good list of tunes.

My goal is to get students to a place where they feel comfortable enough to get out and play with other people. I'm looking for guitar students but open to other most other instruments as well as singers. Keep in mind that our lessons will focus on jazz and playing tunes so if you're looking for fine grained technique on your instrument this isn't my bag (unless you're a bassist).

My rates are extremely reasonable and my schedule is open during the weekdays, evenings, and some weekends. I'm looking for students to do in person lessons in SF so either be local or willing to travel into the city.
