1982 Tokai ES-100 in red.
Very clean for its age with only minor signs of play wear. Even has the hang tags!

Only changes are the grovers which work really well, a new bridge (original bridge included), and a new nut. Needed minor fret work when I got it but they have been dialed in and there is a lot of life in them yet.

Electronics appear to be all original and it is the “rock” version of the pickups.

With the grovers it weighs around 8lbs and is really balanced when sitting, some 335s tend to be butt heavy and wanna slide off your lap.

The neck is like a 62 or 63 style profile. Not super slim but not a 59 type neck a little slimmer and flatter in the back. If you are interested and want measurements just ask.

I’ve owned a number of vintage 335s and custom shop versions and for the money these can’t be beat. Custom shop quality but with a more accurate neck profile, more accurate neck angle (old ones are usually low like this and custom shop always seem to need the bridge set high), and a more accurate shape than many custom shops.

Nice dark board, really cool color, good weight, plays great, rings out, does that 335 bloom when sustaining a note.

Great guitar! Any questions just ask.

1980 ES-100 in Blonde.
This one has changed pickups and possibly changed pots. Has a fuller rounded neck more 59-ish in shape but still slimmer and in my opinion could use a set up. It plays good but I think could play better. The pickups are some kind of Seymour Duncans that I don’t care for haha.

There is a repair or scratch underneath the nut that you can see well in the blacklight photos, whatever it is it seems completely stable.

It’s a great guitar with a rich and open acoustic sound that would be amazing with new pickups and a set-up but as-is plays fine and sounds pretty good if a little dark with the current pickups.

Next is a 1980 Tokai ST-80 in black.
Really lightweight, around 7lbs. Great soft V neck. E stamped pickups. I think the nut is replaced but is all original past that. Nice consistent wear throughout the neck and body make it look and feel played in! 80 stamped at neck heel. My friend has a 1981 ST-80 and this one is louder acoustically and has a more mid forward voice that sounds great. Fretwork has been done and it plays fantastic.
