After the demise of the original Oscar Schmidt, Inc. (1871-1939), the Harmony Company took up the mantle of THE major producer of budget and mid-range guitars.
Like O. S., their low end acoustic guitars were all birch but by the Seventies (as Harmony approached its own demise), the quality of tone woods were upgraded to spruce tops and mahogany bodies. Sound quality improved as well.
This Auditorium-sized Harmony H1233 12-string (1971-75) is a perfect example of that. It was built and released in Fall 1973 (F73).
Solid spruce top, mahogany back & sides; 14 frets. (Original 1974 sales receipt and beat up chipboard case included.)
The guitar is in remarkably good shape … save that the action on the upper fretboard is a bit high (see photos).
