I swapped out the stock pickups for Ibanez PowerSpan pickups. The stock pickups were muddy and limited in tonalities. The new pickups yield more powerful bass tones as well as classic single coil Bass VI tones. Far more versatile setup now.
It has new Fender Bass VI strings (.24 - .100 gauge) which have better tension than the D'Addario's it comes with stock.
In the first picture where it looks like the finish has faded near the lower left side of the body, that's not the case. It's an optical illusion of sorts due to the wood grain having like a shimmering, lenticular effect. Depending on the angle at which you're looking, the body has a fluctuating shininess to it. Quite striking. Best seen in person.
