Gretsch Clipper archtop guitar from 1964 for sale - over 60 years old! I believe most everything is original (pickguard likely replaced), including the pickup which is nice.
The guitar is hollow, and the body is on the thinner side. So as a hollowbody goes, acoustically it's quieter than say a Gibson ES175. But it's louder than a typical thinline, I'd say. I've enjoyed just picking it up and playing it unplugged when practicing late at night. (I could plug into an amp and play with the headphones, too.)
At over 60 years old and an all-American made Gretsch, it's a collector's item, which is why I've kept it for so long. But I already have a couple of other archtops, and other guitars...You know, too many guitars! I'm not really a vintage guitar guy, and could use the money, hence the sale.
Especially considering its age, it's in decent playing condition. The fretboard is a bit worn, as is the paint, etc. So if you want you could get it even nicer condition. But it plays well as is, I think.
I checked out the average sold price from the past 3 years on Reverb Price Guide, and offering my guitar for a little less.
I'm basically trying to raise cash. But I could do trades. Especially like a partial trade, for example a cheaper Telecaster (thinline would be especially nice) or some kind of jazz guitar archtop (hollowbody or semi-hollow) plus cash for this guitar.
Please note: Craigslist emails have an unfortunate tendency to end up in the junk/spam folder of people's mailboxes, if they even get sent. I generally reply to all messages sent my way. So if you don't get a reply from me within a day or two, and you don't see an email from me in your junk/spam folder, please re-try.
