Beautiful 1910 Bush & Lane upright piano that has undergone reconditioning.
Pure, timeless design that was masterfully built with high-end old growth mahogany wood.
(Many expert estimate 1911 as the peak of piano production and innovation.
From there pianos have steadily declined in quality)
Bush & Lanes of this era were manufactured in Holland, Michigan and Chicago, IL and operated a top of the line factory that were making some of the highest quality pianos in the world. This one is from Holland, Michigan. Their tone is superior and rivals Steinway, Weber, etc.
This is a full size upright piano that doubles as an undeniably special piece of furniture / art.
You can see all the quality hand-carved wood sculpting with roman gothic inspiration. Excellent
for homes with tall ceilings.
- Key tops replaced with new faux-ivory
- Tuned to A440 pitch
- Hammers have been voiced.
- Cabinetry polished
- Action and cabinet elements have been pressure-air blasted and thoroughly cleaned
- Key pins have been lubricated
With all this, you can see this piano is a far cry from granny's old worn out piano being sold for pennies. This is
a nicely preserved treasure that would embellish any modern design from contemporary decor to country shabby chic. Simply a musical treasure.
The robust and heavier than most construction is due to the cast iron harp inside the instrument going all the way around the strings rather than most of the way like other pianos. Most pianos are made of all wood, but none of them are solid oak, maple, mahogany, walnut, etc. They are all veneered with a thin slice of very beautiful wood over a less expensive wood. Bush & Lane used some of the finest veneers from all over the world on their instruments.
