These units feature consecutive serial numbers (Serial No. 276 and 277), ensuring they have been a factory-matched pair since day one. The Electronic Industries Alliance source and date code 391145 indicates manufacture in the 45th week of 1961.
Internal Components (Both Cabinets):
Woofers: Two (2) Altec 414A 12” woofers per cabinet (4 total). Original gold/brass frames.
High-Frequency Drivers: Altec 804A Compression Drivers.
Horns: Altec 811B Sectoral Horns.
Crossovers: Altec N-800F Dividing Networks.
Impedance: 16 Ohms (Ideal for vintage tube amplification).

These loudspeakers have a local nightclub history going back to the early 90's (maybe even before) so the cabs are rough, for utility not show. The speakers are fully loaded with original Altec components. The cabinets are structurally sound and include the original Altec Lansing badges. Externally, the black finish shows significant scuffing and wear from age, making these a perfect candidate for a cosmetic restoration or a fresh refinish to match your space. I'm not entirely sure if these are the original cabs or not, as Voice of the Theaters were sometimes housed in plywood cabs for use in, well, theaters.
The "guts" of these speakers are all original and look very clean. Both cabinets include the original Altec Lansing badges on the grille cloth. They are excellent candidates for a professional refinish to restore them to their former glory, or perfect for someone who prioritizes that iconic Altec sound over cosmetic perfection.
These are incredibly efficient speakers that produce that classic, effortless Altec scale and detail. Hooked up to the proper system these are like absolute chocolate to the ears.
