Tutoring - private, patient, personalized (inner richmond)

Not satisfied with this year's school results? Perhaps it's time to try something else.

It's surprising how often even a few hours of one-on-one tutoring can change a student's performance and outlook. There is something about direct personal contact that can't be replicated in a large class or by struggling through a pre-recorded video lesson.

I teach English, writing, and English as a second language. Writing is not a mystic gift, but a practical skill that can be learned, and I can teach it. Whether you need help with term papers, essays, e-mails, progress reports, briefs, or other daily tasks, we can work on it together.

I also now offer tutoring in other liberal arts subjects, such as history and geography, and in basic math and science. I do not teach math past first-year algebra - if you need advanced tutoring past that or for AP exams, please look elsewhere.

I also find myself increasingly offering coaching simply on how to study, and how to navigate through the maze of opportunities available. Learning how to learn, how to investigate and ask questions, is a subject in itself.

Where do I teach? With older students, I usually meet at a local coffeeshop. I do in-home sessions only in my local area. (If I wanted to work as a driver, I'd work for Uber.) However, I will do Zoom lessons anywhere, and can coordinate hours for those overseas.

Cost? I try to keep prices reasonable, as so many of my students are paying out of their own pocket. Let's discuss it.
