Hi there! My name is Daniel Gaffney. I’m a tutor who specializes in reading, writing, grammar, college admissions essays, and test-prep activities. I am passionate about helping students reach their greatest potential in their academic endeavors. I am a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Political Science.. I have tutored students from middle school to the undergraduate level. I understand the importance of patience in tutoring in order to provide a great learning environment for students. As my tutoring method is grounded in measurable, feasible, and conducive support modalities, I help individual students grow and learn. The approach I use to increase student engagement in reading and writing is exercise-based work, which allows me to help students stay actively involved in tutoring sessions. As I have worked with a wide range of students with varying levels of English proficiency, I have been able to help students overcome a myriad of difficulties with grammar, writing technique, and reading comprehension.
I am an excellent writer with a great understanding of the English language. As an instructor who has developed a great command of the English language, I am able to delve deep into the important areas of American history, politics, and literature. I have developed a deep understanding of how to use critical thinking in conjunction with writing skills. This allows me to encourage students to assess complex issues in a nuanced way. I have experience in tutoring younger students with reading-comprehension activities as well as older students who need help in writing research papers, essays, policy briefs, and policy memos. I believe that writing is an essential asset for any person to develop, and I will help students develop this skill in order to become their best intellectual selves. I am eager to help you reach your academic, intellectual, professional, and personal goals.
