Piano Lessons - Looking for weekend students, I travel to you in San Francisco. (San Francisco)

offered in person
Hello music lovers,

Spreading the joy of playing piano and making music is my mission. With over 35 years of teaching experience, I guarantee you’ll be reading music and playing piano in no time flat! Or sharp ;)

My musical training began when I was very young because my mother was an accomplished classical pianist. She claimed that my training actually began in utero, because while I was “cooking” she was actively practicing. But then through her training I was playing Bach, Beethoven (Für Elise), and show tunes by the age of 4. My first public performance was in kindergarten when I was the accompanist for the holiday recital. I went on to receive a degree in music from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and instead of going the route of performing, I have chosen education because that is a much better fit. I love working with people at the piano, spreading the joy of playing piano and making music.

I see learning piano as a series of fun and challenging game-like activities, using your 10 little dancers (fingers), and training your mind, body, and ears to all work in harmony. And after working with hundreds of students over the years, dozens of whom were adults taking lessons for the first time, I am proud to claim that I have proven time and time again that it is never too late to start because my techniques really work-provided you have the three P’s to be successful at the piano: Patience, Perseverence, and that you Practice. And if you are an intermediate or advanced pianist, I can help you improve your technique and expressivity.

Many students over the years have asked why I haven’t written a book. I suppose it’s a project to tackle, but for now I’m happy to share all of my secrets, tips, and tricks with students through lessons. Monday through Friday I teach on site at different schools in San Francisco, but I am looking for students on the weekends who are interested in weekly 1 hour lessons. Or if there are two in the household who each want a half-hour lesson, that works too. The rate is $90 per hour, traveling fee is included. If after the first lesson you decide that you’d like to continue, I do ask that lessons be purchased in advance in blocks of 4, and cancellations made within 24 hours of a lesson are still charged.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.
