I am a professional musician and teacher, and have been teaching for over 20 years in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and Alameda.

I have been studying music, musical styles and musical instruments my entire life. I studied composition at the California Institute of the Arts. I also make musical instruments, especially bamboo flutes (Bansuri). I have recently started taking guitar lessons myself with a professional flamenco guitarist. I am very interested in many styles but I am currently engaged in studying Hindustani Classical Music (Voice, Tabla, Bansuri), Afro-Cuban and Brazilian percussion (on Drum Set), Flamenco Guitar, Classical Guitar, and Jazz Improvisation (memorizing tunes and changes, then playing them on a variety of instruments).
I currently play drums and sing in a duo with a guitarist/vocalist, guitar and vocals in rock quartet, clarinet in a gypsy jazz trio, and trumpet/synth/guitar in a folk rock band, among other projects.

My rate is $50/hr, (sliding scale $30/hr-$60/hr, just let me know! I am committed to providing lessons that are accessible to all!)
Due to COVID-19 I am not offering in-person lessons, however I do normally teach from students homes (arriving by bicycle).
