We're Flume, an SF startup that helps developers and contractors source tile, fixtures, and finishes directly from factories. We keep a small inventory of samples in a SoMa storage unit and ship them out to clients across the country. Right now it's maybe 2-5 hours a week, but we're growing fast and this will pick up.
What you'd do:
- Pick up sample requests from our system, pull the right products from storage
- Pack and ship via UPS/FedEx (we cover supplies and labels)
- Log tracking numbers back into our platform
- Move sample boxes between our office and the SoMa storage unit as needed
- Keep the storage unit organized and flag when we're running low on anything
- Occasionally receive incoming samples from suppliers and check them in
What we're looking for:
- Some background in building materials. Could be a former showroom employee, a builder, a contractor, someone who's worked at a tile/flooring/fixture supplier, a designer, etc. You don't need to be an expert; you just need to know the difference between a 12x24 porcelain tile and a quartz slab, and not panic when a box says "LVT"
- Detail-oriented and reliable. If you say a package went out Tuesday, it went out Tuesday
- Comfortable with basic web tools. We'll train you on our platform
- Has a vehicle that can carry smaller boxes. You'll be moving samples between our office and the storage unit
- Comfortable lifting 30-50 lbs. Tile boxes are heavy
- Flexible schedule works great here. Parents raising kids, semi-retired tradespeople, folks with another part-time gig, all welcome. You set your hours within reason
Logistics:
- $30/hr to start, depending on experience
- Mileage reimbursed at the IRS rate
- 1099 contractor
- Hours will grow as we grow. Could become a much larger role over time if it's a fit
- SoMa, San Francisco
To apply: Email a short note about your background and a resume to jobs@tryflume.ai. Tell us one thing you know about building materials that most people don't.
