About us:
We are from the east coast but have lived in SF for 10 years and plan to stay! We live in the NoPa/ Lone Mountain neighborhood of SF (Golden Gate & Masonic)
We sometimes work from home, sometimes will be out. Typically one of us will be involved with kids’ bedtimes even if the other is traveling or working
Our two sweet, sensitive, high-energy boys are 6yo and almost 3yo. Both are in school until 4/4:30pm on normal days. Our oldest is neurodivergent and can struggle with regulation.
You are:
Reliable, punctual, and professional
A clear and proactive communicator in person and over text. Must be fluent in English (another language is a plus, especially Spanish)
Happy to help out as needed to keep our boys on track and our household running smoothly (see responsibilities above)
Physically capable of walking a mile, including pushing 3yo uphill in the stroller
Capable of keeping two energetic, impulsive boys under close supervision- especially outside- and if necessary, running fast to catch a runaway
Able to stay calm, warm, playful, and in control of safety/rule boundaries even when kids have big feelings and high energy
Skilled at building relationships, especially with preschool- and elementary-aged children. You listen to understand them, you co-regulate, and you are able to guide and influence them because you earn their trust and respect.
Experienced with loving, skill teaching-based discipline (no punishments, big reactions, or shaming)
Alert to potential dangers and have wise judgment, putting safety first while allowing kids to challenge themselves and take appropriate risks
Mindful of the home environment, able to help the boys clean up after themselves and maintain (or improve!) household systems
OK with not bringing any scents into our home (including by avoiding scented laundry detergent and car fresheners)
OK with avoiding phone/device use while working
Able to share great references from past employers
Currently expecting this arrangement to work for you for longer than a year
The strongest candidates will also be one or more of these:
a continuous learner about children’s needs and development (e.g. you’ve read Dr. Becky)
someone with educational or job training/ experience with ASD and ADHD
creative, musical, great at storytelling
a neighbor in SF
sometimes flexible to work full days if one or both boys is a little sick or school is closed. We understand the right candidate will likely have other commitments, and we hope you can communicate transparently so we know what schedule changes might or might not work for you.
If this sounds like you, we look forward to meeting you! Please send me a message at show contact info
