I've been trying to taste a pawpaw fruit for about ten years. I finally folded and bought some online. They arrived yesterday, black, basically fermenting in the box. Bummer. The good news is I harvested the seeds from the fruit, and have about 40 seeds to give away.
My research tells me these will not do well in San Francisco. Still, I'll be germinating as many as I can, trying my luck with a tree, and trying to give the little trees to people in a better climate, where it gets cold enough for the tree to make fruit. That still leaves me with a few dozen seeds. The longer the seeds are left to dry out, the lower the germination rate, improved (it's said) through cold stratification, which I am not going to attempt.
So please send me a note telling me when you can come by. It should be this afternoon (9/18). Send me a time this afternoon or evening that you can come by, and I'll send you the address.
I'll be giving each respondent about 5 seeds, more or less depending on the number of responses.
