Design Plus Gallery presents the Calamo Desk by Gabriele Rosa for Zanotta. The desk is made from black varnished steel with a tan cowhide surface. The Calamo desk, as well as being a useful place to write and work, continued to be an object of fascination. In this project Gabriele Rosa tried to transform the object with reference to the modernday concept of homeoffice, making it lighter, more agile and versatile: an essential element of furniture. The top has a storage pocket, realized entirely in cowhide, could be used to hold a modern tablet, keys and coins, or even a fountain pen and a diary, for more nostalgic users. The desk is in good condition, minimal wear. Made in Italy.

Guided by the insight and wonderful entrepreneurship abilities of the founder, Aureilio Zanotta, beginning in the 1960s it won and has held the international spotlight. This was thanks to its products: emblematic for both their formal and technological innovations.
About the Designer:
Gabriele Rosa was born in 1982 in Rome where he got his degree in Industrial Design. While still a student he had his first experiences at Poltrona Frau Group and later he worked in Fuksas architecture studios. In 2008 he set up his own practice and designed the first product for Zanotta. In the following years he gained awards and international attention thanks to very innovative projects, characterized by typological experimentation and sculptural aesthetics.
