Handmade Vintage Chinese Tang San Cai Ceramic Art Tiles
This artwork is made out of 9 tiles with each square at 6”x6”
These tiles were created using an ancient Chinese ceramic firing techniques, a low-temperature glazed pottery popular in the Tang dynasty. With yellow, green, and white being the predominant colors in these potteries, they’re called the Tang dynasty three-color glazed pottery or "Tang San Cai.”
I got these tiles on a trip about 35 years ago in Xi'an where my parents and I saw the Terracotta Army, an afterlife guard in the tomb of China's First Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Back in the day, we could actually go down into the tomb and touch the Terracotta Warriors!
Anyway I have only looked at them from time to time as I really don’t have the space to display them. In fact I need to pare down, so hopefully someone will enjoy them.
