The Host / Hostess is the front door, gatekeeper, and hospitality nerve center of the club. This role is responsible for member check-in, coat handling, event access control, seating coordination, and real-time concierge support through the club’s membership app. The position requires exceptional judgment, discretion, and a service mindset rooted in anticipation rather than reaction.
Core Responsibilities
Member & Guest Arrival Experience
• Greet members and approved guests warmly, confidently, and by name whenever possible
• Verify memberships, guest lists, and event access upon arrival
• Manage coat check, personal items, and arrival logistics with care and discretion
• Maintain an orderly, calm, and polished arrival experience during peak periods
Seating, Flow & Club Awareness
• Coordinate seating and room flow across dining, lounge, and event spaces
• Monitor capacity, pacing, and congestion throughout the club
• Communicate proactively with service staff, management, and security
• Adjust plans in real time based on member needs, VIPs, or operational changes
Concierge & Member App Support
• Monitor and respond to concierge requests via the club’s membership app
• Assist with reservations, directions, event information, and special requests
• Escalate time-sensitive or high-touch requests to management appropriately
• Log notes, preferences, and issues to support continuity of service
Hospitality Support & “All Hands” Assistance
• Assist with general cleaning, resetting spaces, and maintaining presentation standards
• Support servers, bartenders, and events staff as needed during service
• Help with light setup, breakdown, or transitions
• Step in wherever necessary to maintain service flow and member satisfaction
Standards, Discretion & Professionalism
• Maintain strict discretion regarding members, guests, and club activity
• Uphold all club policies, brand standards, and codes of conduct
• Address concerns calmly and professionally; escalate issues when appropriate
• Represent the club with polish, warmth, and consistency at all times
Required Skills & Attributes
• Prior experience in hospitality, private clubs, luxury service, or high-touch environments preferred
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence
• Strong situational awareness and judgment
• Comfort multitasking in a fast-paced, people-dense environment
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort using reservation systems, ticketing tools, and mobile apps
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and events
• Service-oriented mindset with a “no job is too small” attitude
Physical & Work Environment
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift or carry light items (coats, small supplies)
• Work environment includes crowds, noise, and dynamic event conditions
• Schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays
• Concierge services through the member app is done remotely when the club isn’t open
