Are you 25 – 65 years old living with or without PTSD? This study involves two visits to the San Francisco Veterans Medical Center (SFVAMC). Total possible compensation is $210.00, $50 for completing the screening session and an additional $160 for completing the entire study. First, you will be asked to complete a telephone screening to determine eligibility. Then, you will be asked to come to the SFVAMC for a medical history review, a brief physical exam conducted by a study medical professional, and an audiotaped diagnostic interview conducted by a trained clinical interviewer to assess if you are a fit for the study. If you are eligible, the study will involve 2 appointments at the SFVAMC one week- one month apart. The appointments will last 4 hours (for the first visit) and 8 hours (for the second visit) It will involve administration of the Typhoid vaccine or placebo followed by a functional Magnetic Resonance Imagining (fMRI) scan, as well as blood sampling at five points.
