$20/hr | Ferry Building Hummus Shop Staff — Obour Foods (Part-Time) (financial district)

About Us

Obour Foods is a San Francisco–based maker of gourmet hummus, pita chips, tahini, and toum. We sell at 20+ farmers markets across California and operate a flagship retail location at the SF Ferry Building.

Many people say it’s the best hummus they’ve ever had — we’re inclined to agree.

Position

We’re hiring friendly, dependable staff to represent Obour Foods at our Ferry Building shop. This is a long-term position (6+ months), not a seasonal gig.

Shifts Available

• Saturdays
  • First shift: 8:00am – 2:00pm
  • Second shift: 2:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Both Saturday shifts include a paid working lunch while on-duty, and require signing a legal lunch waiver.
• Mondays: 10:30am – 7:00pm (30-minute lunch)
• Fridays: 10:30am – 7:00pm (30-minute lunch)

Pay & Perks

• $20/hour starting wage
• Free hummus every week
• Generous trade policy — $60 worth of Obour product each shift to barter at the market/shop

Responsibilities

• Set up, restock, and maintain our booth inside the Ferry Building
• Sample and sell Obour products with enthusiasm
• Restcok and merchandise products
• Educate customers about what makes our hummus, tahini, and pita chips special
• Process transactions using Square on your smartphone; handle simple cash/card payments
• Keep the booth clean, organized, and welcoming
• Track basic inventory and communicate restock needs

This Might Be the Job for You If

• You have retail sales experience.
• You’re reliable and punctual — you show up early, not late
• You’re outgoing and comfortable talking to strangers, turning curiosity into sales
• You can lift 25–35 lbs and handle light setup
• You have experience working a POST like Square
• You can reliably get to and from the Ferry Building for your shift(s)
• The phrase “Take everything seriously, except for yourself” resonates with you

Previous farmers market or food sales experience is a bonus, but not required. We’ll train the right person if you bring great energy and people skills.
