- Buy if you need a heavily discounted VERY fast CPU for (1) heavy computational power, (2) video editing speed, (3) compiling speed, (4) background server, (5) multi-threaded performance, (6) casual web browsing.
- Do not buy if you run competitive video games that require uninterrupted visual control, or critical business/healthcare software.
DEFECT:
The integrated graphics within the CPU has a flaw that causes Windows 11 screen to briefly blackout and automatically return to normal. The issue has persisted since the day I've owned it and has not worsened; it's stable.
DIAGNOSTICS:
A stress test with Prime95 did not reveal errors or physical problems with the CPU itself. A stress test with OCCT showed errors in the integrated graphics unit.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Once every several minutes or hours, the screen will freeze for 2 seconds, turn black for 2 seconds, and resume to a normal state. From my experience, third-party apps like Chrome do not crash during the blackout. I have never experienced BSOD. Also, it is less likely to blackout while you're watching a YouTube video after it has been loaded. The blackout is more likely to happen while switching things around and interacting with complex graphical elements on the screen, yet it does not happen frequently enough to make it unusable for browsing.
For example, you can open a website and click and scroll for 5 minutes without a problem, and when you click to open something again, it blacks out for a couple of seconds, then you're back to using the website for several more minutes or hours before it happens again. I've used this CPU for a year so it's usable for web browsing if you can tolerate the annoyance. Where it truly shines is in doing background tasks that require lots of computational power and less interaction.
PURCHASE:
You can test it. If it doesn't meet your needs I will give you a full refund if you return it within a week in the same condition. A new unit would cost you $330. I'll take $195 in cash.
