We are looking for a part time assistant teacher 2-4 days per week 8:30am-3:30pm, plus occasional substitute opportunities on other days. Compensation is $30/hour.
Though our classes are small, some of our kids require focused attention that can make it hard for a single teacher to support within a group. Our day also features multiple independent work sessions where teachers all rotate tutoring and assisting students 1:1. Your work will be a mix of 1:1 supporting neurodivergent K-2 students, tutoring during rotation periods, assisting with teaching a couple of subjects in the 3-5 class, and light oversight during recess and breaks.
The ideal candidate brings a genuine love and understanding of kids, a desire to connect with them and see them succeed. Someone who actively enjoys the company and energy of 5-11 year olds. Hopefully you are also passionate about school and education--you believe it can and should be a rewarding space for learning and growth. Your ability and interest to help younger students with simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication) and play outdoor games with the class at recess is a big plus.
If you can demonstrate these traits, we don't care what degree you have.
Desired Qualifications:
- We do NOT require a degree or credential in teaching, but experience and passion for working with kids ages 5-7 is a must
- You must be able to consistently commit an 8:30-3:30 schedule on the same days each week (some flexibility on which days)
- Ability to lead class in one of more of Science, Music, Social Studies, or Art
- Ability to help with basic math
- Additional availability and interest for full-day substituting when needed is a plus
- In accordance with SF regulations, you will need to pass background check
