It has AC, the Bose sound system, a 5 speed manual gearbox and a limited slip differential. It doesn’t have ABS (it’s not broken, this is just one of the last cars that you could have without it). You’ll need to know how to emergency brake without ABS. If you don’t, I’m happy to teach you.
In the spirit of transparency, this is what is wrong with the car:
- the clearcoat is peeling in a lot of places
- someone dented and scratched the rear left while parking
- the brakes will need to be replaced within the coming year: they have some life left and work fine, but they make a squealing sound the two applications after having parked
- the right speaker rattles on humid days
- the retractable antenna is missing. The radio works fine without it, however
- there is a hole in the convertible top. Someone slashed it to break in. It’s been patched
- the engine mounts are nearing the end of their life and will probably need to be replaced in a year
- the original leather of the seats is pretty worn, the seats have OEM style covers on them
- the left door was replaced a year ago because someone dented it while parking
- there is the sort of interior wear that you’d expect for a high mileage car
- the original wheels have some curb rash
- the rubber sealing the roof is pretty old. It’s fine for normal rain, but I wouldn’t like take it to a car wash
- the cruise control doesn’t work
- the throttle cable rattles under full throttle
Other than that, the car is in great shape and has been super reliable to me. It has new tires (Nov 2025), the last big maintenance was replacing the cooling system last year. As far as I can tell, the car is in good shape mechanically: engine and transmission are fine, suspension components are fine, it tracks perfectly straight and starts up every time. The AC works, the radio works, the central locking works (this is pretty much the entirety of electronics on this car). It’s passed smog without issue every time.
It comes with a bunch of stuff:
- a car cover for long term storage
- snow chains (it’s perfect for transporting ski to Tahoe: just keep the roof open and put them in the passenger seat)
- a luggage rack on the back (useful since the trunk is pretty small)
- phone holder
- bluetooth to FM transmitter
- dash cam
- spark plugs and wires and tools (I meant to replace them but apparently the current ones are just fine)
Selling this car since I bought a Boxster (and let me tell you, in most situations the Miata is more fun to drive). This Miata has brought me so much joy, and I hope it’ll do that for you too.
