I have owned this unique car for about 40 years and drive it once a month to keep it in shape. The engine was professionally rebuilt about 15k miles ago, including new pistons, rings, rods, bearings and clutch with pressure plate. The gaskets and bolts on the intake and exhaust manifolds are new and an electric fuel pump and electronic ignition make the car easy to start. The brakes on the rear are new and front brakes have little wear. The car has a four speed on the column with hydrak transmission that, to me, makes the car a pleasure to drive. The upholstery was redone at the same time the engine was done and the woodwork has been sanded and stained to a beautiful finish.
The car runs well and though it isn't fast by today's standards, it will keep up with traffic. It still needs a few things to make it perfect but is just fine the way it is. The next owner should be someone who is mechanically inclined because there aren't many mechanics who know how to work on it. That said, these cars are simple to maintain and reliable and if you're the kind of person who doesn't mind getting his or her hands dirty, they are fun to work on. I do have a terrific mechanic who knows the car almost as well as I do and, like me, would be happy to respond to a phone call to help when needed.
I have many extra parts (hub caps, generator, starter. distributor caps, rotors, trip pieces, hydrak parts, etc.) that will be included.
Curious to talk with some of you Ponton fans and answer your questions.
