San Francisco's Playland-At-The- Beach memorabilia. The amusement park was located at Ocean Beach between Fulton and Balboa, 1920-1972. I worked at Playland as a relief ride operator during the summers of 1969-1970. I worked on the Balboa side and operated the Mad Mine, The Scrambler and The Tilt-a-Whirl. The Tilt-a-Whirl was right next to the Diving Bell and it would drive me crazy with the continuous loop advertising the ride, the bells and the sounds of it splashing to the surface!
I am now parting with some of my extensive collection, primarily photos, tickets and other small collectibles. The large items that decorate my home walls from Playland are NOT FOR SALE.
There are many old original photographs as well as modern day reproductions and copies. Lots of proof sheets, negatives, rare tickets, correspondence, letter head, ride manual, unused Playland invoices, Large color 11x14 FunTierTown with Sheriff See U Soon and of the diving bell. Photos's include some non Playland material. Inside Skateland during the 40's New Years, Tait's fire and a GGIE photo. Also have more photos per request, CList allows only 24. Please, serious buyers only! I've had these items for many years hoping to do a book but no longer able. Hope to find the right person/organization for these items. Please, serious inquiries only.
The numerous items on the walls of my home mini- museum are NOT included for your enjoyment only.. Thanks
