Copenhagen Smart Wheel E-bike Conversion Motor Battery Bicycle Accessory (e-bike conversion wheel)
original retail price $1,100.00
Pre-owned 700c Copenhagen e-bike wheel with charger. I’m the original owner and it worked great the last time I used it. The wheel is no longer supported by the manufacturer. They shut down the server which had been required to use the wheel. A member of the Copenhagen Wheel Users group on Facebook came up with a URL that reenables the wheel for use with one’s cell phone. tb47.me/chw/R1.03 known as the red wheel app. See pictures as this is the exact wheel you will receive in the condition pictured.
An advanced all-in-one electric bike wheel with the motor and battery combined in a sturdy red case, provides near-silent pedal assist based on four signals, measures rider input 100+ times per second
Offers three levels of assist with adjustable speed from 10 to 25 mph (in some geographies), allows you to regenerate energy with Exercise Mode or by pedaling backwards to trigger regen braking
Available in two wheel diameters and five rim widths to fit a range of bike frames and tire types, rims come in black or silver and utilize reinforcement eyelets for strength, uses sturdy 14 gauge curved spokes
Slightly increased battery capacity over prior generations, not the lightest conversion choice at ~16.8 lbs but it's durable and quiet (as most gearless motors are), rear-heavy design, can be pre-built into a wide selection of bikes

🚴 What the Copenhagen Wheel Is
The Copenhagen Wheel is a high-tech rear bicycle wheel that turns a regular pedal bike into an electric-assist e-bike without the need for a full new e-bike purchase. All the electronics, battery, motor, and sensors are built directly into the wheel hub itself — no external battery packs, cables, throttles, or bulky accessories.
⚙️ Key Features & How It Works
All-in-one electric hub: Motor, battery, sensors, and control system are integrated into the rear wheel hub.
Pedal-assist only: The system detects your pedaling via sensors and provides proportional assist — it doesn’t use a throttle.
Smartphone-controlled: You connect the wheel to an iOS or Android app via Bluetooth to choose assist modes (e.g., Eco, Standard, Turbo) and view ride stats like speed, battery level, distance, and power data.
Regenerative braking: Some energy can be recovered and fed back into the battery when you backpedal or coast.
Range & speed: Typical range on a full charge is up to ~30 miles (50 km), with assisted top speeds around 20–25 mph (32–40 km/h) depending on mode and local e-bike regulations.
Easy retrofit: The wheel replaces your bike’s existing rear wheel and is compatible with various gearing setups (single-speed up to 10-speed drivetrains) and common wheel diameters.
💡 Ride Experience
The wheel’s embedded sensors monitor torque, cadence, pedal position, and acceleration many times per second to provide a smooth, intuitive boost that feels like a natural extension of your own pedaling effort.
📌 Notes
The product was discontinued by Superpedestrian in 2020, and software/app support may no longer be functional. A member of the Copenhagen Wheel Users group on Facebook came up with a URL that reenables the wheel for use with one’s cell phone. tb47.me/chw/R1.03 known as the red wheel app.
It was considered a premium e-bike retrofit option at its launch price.
