This is a very clean, well-preserved low mileage set of classic 700 clincher road wheels in excellent - close to new old stock - condition. Buttery-smooth bearings, rims are perfectly true, and the braking surfaces show barely any wear.
These wheels were originally sold in 1995 – 2002 and were known as a good balance of reliability, weight, aero, reasonable price. They hold up well for daily riding, long mixed-condition miles. A great replacement set for your Campagnolo 9-speed road bike, especially if you are looking for a matching period-correct upgrade for bikes built with 9 speed Campy
The hubs are Campagnolo Athena with the standard 130mm rear / 100mm front spacing and classic loose-ball angular contact bearings - one of the best designs from that era for longevity and serviceability. They’re fully rebuildable and easy to maintain with just new bearings or cones if ever needed. Freehub body works with Campagnolo/Miche 9, or 10-speed cassettes. The cassette locknut in the picture is not included
Both wheels are laced with stainless spokes to Mavic CXP23 clincher rims. The CXP23 rim has a higher, slightly more aero profile than the Open Pro. made with Mavic’s proprietary Maxtal alloy and feature SUP - arc welded joints.
If you’re after a reliable, serviceable “silver on silver” wheelset for your vintage Campy 9speed build—this one would work perfect. (Bianchi , Lemond, Daccordi, Marin and many other bike brands used them.)
I’m a mechanic and vintage bike collector, and can help install or set them up if you need. Feel free to message me if you’re serious and ready.
For other Vintage Campagnolo Parts – 6 to 10 Speed :
I have a curated selection of vintage Italian Campagnolo components - from the 6-speed through 10-speed era - ranging from basic groups to Super Record. These parts come from my personal collection, built up over 20 years of working on classic bikes, and include derailleurs, shifters, cranksets, brakes, and more. Most are low-mileage, excellent condition, and some are even New Old Sstock. I dont have the manpower to create a searcheable catalog with pictures of what i have.
If you know what you’re looking for and have a realistic sense of market value fro these things, feel free to reach out. I’m always glad to connect with fellow enthusiasts who appreciate vintage Campy gear. I also know these parts well and can offer help with installation, tuning, or Italian drivetrain repairs if needed. My labor rates are reasonable and not every bikeshop has guys that know how to work on 15-30 year old Campy or have necessary parts in stock. I price parts based on condition, rarity, and local demand—not on someone’s hope of getting a “deal.”
Out of respect for my time, I’d kindly ask that folks do a bit of their own research before messaging me. There are great resources like Velobase, Campagnolo catalogs, Ebay and forum discussions to help with compatibility and ballpark pricing. It will be an uphill battle, unfortunately, since very few really experienced and knowledgeable guys spend their days participating in forum discussions, and there’s no centralized database tracking every sale across platforms to calculate a precise market value adjusted for condition. What you’ll find instead is a 1:100 ratio of available parts to wildly biased opinions. Still, you would need to take that brave journey on your own. I have a lot on my plate already and I can’t act as a personal consultant or appraiser for folks that are trying to figure out what they need or learn the difference between “this thing and that thing”, or just curious if I happen have this $100 part that is buried deep in one of my boxes and whether I would be willing to take $5 for it when I find it for them. When your hands are in rubber gloves, covered in grease and the bike is torn apart on the stand - every answered text/email costs $5-50 in lost productivity. We all have bills to pay, hope you understand.
Lastly, I’m not desperate to sell. Rare or pristine pieces aren’t going out the door at bargain-bin prices. These parts only get rarer over time, and I’m perfectly fine holding onto them. If my price is higher than what you are hoping to pay, you are welcome keep me as plan “B” while you are looking for a better deal. There is plenty of fish for everyone.
Once again, thanks for understanding, and feel free to reach out if you’re serious and ready.
