Up for sale is a new old stock (NOS) set of Easton Velomax Circuit T3 wheels in the rare 650c size, dating from the 2002–2004 production years. They’re an excellent choice for period-correct triathlon/time trial bikes, smaller-frame road bikes, or collectors looking for a hard-to-find wheelset in unused condition.
The Circuit T3 was part of Velomax’s performance lineup just as the company was acquired by Easton. The design combined semi-aero alloy rims, stainless spokes, and smooth-rolling system hubs to produce a wheelset that was stiff, responsive, and surprisingly durable.
Specs & Details:
• Size: 650c, clincher, rim brake only
• Freehub: Shimano/SRAM 8–10 speed compatible
• Axle spacing: 130mm rear / 100mm front (standard quick release)
• Rim: Aluminum, semi-aero profile (~30mm depth), machined sidewalls
• Spokes: stainless steel, straight pull, 24 front / 28 rear (paired lacing)
• Hubs: Velomax/Easton system hubs with sealed cartridge bearings
• Weight: ~1,590g per pair (catalog listed)
• Finish: black anodized rims with black hubs and silver spokes
• Condition: True, round, smooth — NOS, taken off from a new bike years ago and kept in sorage.
The Circuit T3 was praised in its day for combining lightweight climbing performance (~1,590g for the set in 650c) with stiffness and smooth hub action. The semi-aero rim gave a noticeable advantage on flats while remaining agile for climbs. The paired-spoke system reduced stress at the rim and hubs, extending longevity and maintaining reliable tension.
The 650c version was much less common than the 700c, and finding a NOS set two decades later is rare. These are ideal for restoring a vintage early-2000s triathlon bike, completing a period-correct small-frame build, or simply enjoying a classic, high-performance aluminum wheelset that rides fast and smooth.
MSRP when new: ~$650–700, which is more than $1k now
