If you’re looking for a capable, well-built trail mountain bike that won’t break the bank, this Stumpjumper Comp is a great pick. It’s a super clean frame from 2007. The geometry leans a bit enduro—stable on descents but still agile enough for fast singletrack.
The build includes a Fox F90 RL fork, 90mm travel, air spring, rebound/compression adjustment with lockout. It's got a nice responsive feel and takes trail hits well.
The drivetrain is a smooth-shifting 3x9 speed Sram X7/X9 mix, with the Truvativ Stylo triple 44/32/22t crankset, 11–34t cassette, Sram X9 rear derailleur, Shimano Deore front, and Sram X7 trigger shifters. Braking power is also handled by Avid Juicy Five hydraulic discs, with 160mm rotors
Wheels are Specialized Stout Disc front hub, Shimano M-525 rear hub - laced to DT Swiss X430 wheels, which are strong, stiff, and still spin smooth and true. Tires have lots of tread left. It’s finished with a Specialized stem, Specialized XC flat bars with brand new grips. Comfortable Bontrager saddle.
This is a solid, well regarded MTB with high-quality components - MSRP back in 2007/8 was $1400 ($2250 in today’s money). at $655 it still offers much more bike than the $1200 entry-level hardtails you’ll find new today.
19” frame fits riders around 5’9” to 6’. It’s freshly tuned up and trail ready.
I collect and restore vintage bikes, and I enjoy bringing gently used more recent models back to like-new condition. It’s always rewarding to see them back on the road, helping people stay active and reduce car use. I also offer repairs and tune-ups for the bikes I sell - please check out my Instagram - sfbikemarket.
