Here’s a rare chance to own a very well-preserved piece of mountain bike history. This 1995 Specialized Stumpjumper FS is one of the last Stumpjumpers built with chromoly steel, and part of the limited batch produced in Japan before production shifted to Taiwan. Japanese-made mid-90s Stumpjumpers are especially prized for their meticulous build quality and represent the final era of steel frames in the Stumpjumper line before aluminum took over.
The “FS” designation stands for Front Suspension, and this bike features the original RockShox Mag21 magnesium fork — a legendary fork of its time that still has life in it. The stunning gold paint remains in excellent condition, making this bike as visually striking as it is historically symbolic: For collectors, it’s a gold painted bike that captures the golden age of Specialized’s steel mountain bikes.
Key highlights:
• Original chromoly frame with Japanese craftsmanship
• RockShox Mag21 magnesium fork – lighter than most suspension forks from that era
• 3x8 speed Shimano Deore LX/XT mix with SRAM GripShift (original, crisp indexing)
• 26” Deore LX hubs on Specialized Z-21 clincher rims (true, smooth spinning)
• Specialized BlackJack 1.95 tires in good shape
• Original Specialized genuine leather saddle in excellent condition
Most major components remain original, and well preserved, making this bike not just rideable but also highly collectible. It’s a time capsule from the mid-90s, perfect for someone who appreciates the history of mountain biking or wants to display a clean, authentic example of one of Specialized’s most iconic eras.
Size M/S, best for riders 5’2”–5’8”.
