Beautiful, rare, and truly one of the finest steel road frames of its era — this Breezer Venturi is a premium steel endurance/race bike built with Breezer’s proprietary D’Fusion air-hardened steel, matched with Ultegra components and handbuilt White Industries wheels. A boutique, thoughtfully assembled bike for riders who appreciate road feel and craftsmanship of a great steel frame.
Joe Breeze is one of the founding figures of modern cycling — one of the original Marin pioneers from whom mountain biking was born. His company, Breezer Bikes, carried that same engineering philosophy into road frames: practical, innovative, beautifully built bikes that blended traditional steel ride quality with forward-thinking design. While Breezer is best known for early mountain bikes and later for commuter/transportation bicycles, the Venturi stands out as one of the few performance-road projects Joe green-lit during this era.
In 2012 Breezer brought back and redesigned it’s original 1990s Venturi model, offering it to riders who wanted a race-oriented steel frame engineered with modern stiffness and tube shaping. Instead of traditional round tubing, Breezer developed D’Fusion tubing, an air-hardened proprietary steel with hydroformed shapes (notably the D-shaped top tube and asymmetric chainstays). The goal was to create a frame approaching the performance of higher-end steels like 853 — but with better torsional response under load.
Venturi was marketed as the stiff, high-precision alternative to classic narrow-diameter steel frames. Oversized tubing increased surface area for power transfer, and Breezer emphasized that the Venturi was stiffer than most steel production frames of its time. Original MSRP for the frameset was $1099, including fork, headset, seat collar, and spacers.. Low production numbers (~149 frames in its model year) and the bike’s niche geometry make the Venturi a rare sight. Though it’s praised by the riders who actually own them - finding a Venturi available for sale is doesn’t happen often.
Ride Quality:
Despite its stiffness, the D’Fusion tubing and hydroformed sections give the Venturi excellent buzz damping, making it a fast but civilized ride, with exceptional stability and acceleration. When you’re on the hoods, weight distribution is perfectly centered — putting you in a powerful, “running-forward” pedaling position. It’s a bike that genuinely hums when you put down torque.
Build Highlights:
This particular bike is a beautifully curated build that respects the spirit of the frame — performance-focused, elegant, and color-matched throughout. The pearl-white/blue paint is one of Breezer’s most striking finishes, and the custom blue accents carry through the whole bike.

Frame is labeled L / 54cm, but with a long 570mm effective top tube it fits like a classic 56-57cm road frame. Ideal rider height: approx. 5’9”–6’.
I collect and restore vintage bikes, and I enjoy bringing gently used more recent models back to like-new condition. It’s always rewarding to see them back on the road, helping people stay active and reduce car use.
