ABOUT THE ARTIST
"Robert Fleming was born and raised in Cleveland, OH and now lives in Coachella Valley. His high school art teacher was a major influence on his decision to pursue an art career. He obtained his formal art training at Miami University in Ohio with an emphasis on illustration and graphic design. After beginning his art career at Hallmark Cards – where during a watercolor demonstration by the world famous John Pike his keen enthusiasm for watercolor painting emerged – Bob began working as a graphic designer at KTVU in Oakland, CA.
Since then, Bob's technique has evolved over the years into the wet-in-wet technique. His original watercolor paintings convey a fresh and spontaneous feeling. He has created art for over fifty years."
"Each year hopes are high that the desert comes alive with wildflowers in bloom. The annual transformation of the Coachella Valley into a colorful canvas happens in years in which there is rain. The best place to celebrate is at the Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival at the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center in Palm Desert. In addition to wildflower viewing and art, the festival offers the sand sculpting element, a Kids' Zone, a 5k trail run, mountain biking, and interpretive hikes. There are raffles, vendors, exhibitors, and live music provided in the beer and wine garden."
