ABOUT THE ARTIST
Shane Pickett (1957-2010) was one of the foremost Noongar artists of his generation. (The Noongar are Aboriginal Australian peoples who live in the south-west corner of Western Australia.)
He held at least 27 solo exhibitions and was involved in nearly 100 group shows. His works traveled to America, Europe and Asia, and have been acquired by many of Australia’s most important collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, and the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
This is an earlier work by the artist. Later in his career his abstract paintings commanded significant prices. For a range of values of his work for all of his career, see https://www.invaluable.com/artist/pickett-shane-s3axoj7dw3/sold-at-auction-prices/?sort=priceDesc&page=1
