The Space:
- Two cozy 10 x 10 bedrooms (one could be a home office)
- A giant 23 x 11 great room to use as your personal living room - the living room downstairs is for my family, you’ll have your own place upstairs to relax, watch TV, have some friends over, even eat your meals if you want, etc.
- Vaulted ceilings and skylights throughout the entire house, and all rooms upstairs
- A spacious private upstairs bathroom with a shower and plenty of storage
- Possibility of adding a kitchenette upstairs, or sharing our main kitchen - let’s discuss!
- Some shared garage and shed storage
- Rent: $2,500 + split utilities for the entire upstairs - 3 rooms (two bedrooms/office and one living room/great room) plus private bathroom
The Household:
- live downstairs with my two kids (17 and 23) and our sweet pug. We’re laid back, family-style. Our house is alive as it’s a family home, and we’re also respectful of one another’s needs. Our rhythm:
- We go to bed around 10:30 pm, wake around 7 am during the weekdays (later on weekends) - if you stay up very late or need the house quiet until 10 am, this is not a fit
- Sometimes we play music in the kitchen or host dinners/game nights, and we also value the house being a downregulated space to relax and unwind
- We like having friendly, positive relationships with people who share the housemates and hold an attitude of grace and goodwill
- We like to get to know each other enough to feel comfortable sharing a home, while also respecting needs for personal space
- Mostly sober home (a glass of wine now and then is fine, but daily use of substances is not a fit - substance abuse is a deal breaker)
Who We’re Looking For:
- Adults only (sorry, no additional kids)
- Small pets may be considered
- Someone who appreciates a balance of privacy and also friendliness in shared spaces with a family - teenagers are fun!
The House:
- Located West Side Santa Cruz, right near Bay and King St.
- Well-lit, updated, well-insulated, and spacious
- Large sunny front and back yards with gardens
This is the first time I’m offering the entire upstairs as one rental, so we’ll be figuring out some of the details together. Essentially, you’d have your own upstairs apartment while sharing certain aspects of the downstairs house.
