Excellent Christmas present!!
The Boney Brass Bling starts with a 80+ year old Zinc King Lingerie model washboard made by National Washboard Company.
This was completely disassembled, cleaned, refinished, rebuilt, glued, and screwed back together (instead of nails, as originally built).
I added brass cups, brass rails, a Meinl cymbal (made in Germany) and the Boney Fingers Washboard logo burned into an oak face plate (which means it will never rub off)..
This model is set up to be played standing up or sitting down, with washboard gloves or brushes,
WHY RAILS?
Rails help to protect the wood siding when struck by the rubber portion of of the brushes, which is a playing technique.
I also use do repairs and custom work.
