Introduced in 1950, the CF-100 was part of Gibson's "Country and Western" series, which aimed to cater to the growing popularity of country and folk music. The CF-100 was designed to be a more affordable alternative to Gibson's higher-end acoustic guitars while still offering a quality instrument.
This 1953 example is a player and has playwear and use typical of an instrument of its age. All original with the exception of the tuner buttons and the bottom strap button. The neck was reset by a luthier in Oregon who wedged the upper frets on the body up to bring them in line with the rest of the fret board improving the playability. The original case is long gone.
