This Amazing Fine Italian Violin labeled as "Forli Armando Barbieri Via S. Martino 1936" is a high-quality acoustic-violin made in Italy from a Guarneri pattern. This powerful violin is full size and made for advanced to expert level musicians. The table is made from two pieces of narrow-to-medium grained spruce and the back is made from a single piece of maple of strong curl. The ribs, C-bouts and lower bouts match well the wood of the back with the upper bout ribs being slightly plainer figure. The neck and scroll are of one piece and similar maple. This violin features top-of-the-line Italian construction with intricate hand carving.
The instrument has a thick red-orange over a yellow ground varnish finish, making it stylish and comes with a lightweight case to protect it for transport. Having typical player's wear (i.e. a few chips and scratches), it also has a VERY well repaired post crack. I've performed professionally on this violin many times over the past 23 years and use it in all my lessons. The solidly repaired pc is a non-issue and almost invisible...look at the pic.
Without the post crack, this violin would easily be worth $20,000+ at today's prices and comes with a professional appraisal from 2002 for USD$5500. You will receive a violin that offers a superior playing experience for any musician looking for fine Italian craftsmanship. I'm a professional and this violin is exceptional in balance, tonal quality (LOTS of color) and ease of playing.
