Martin 000-42 Authentic 1939, built in 2016, for sale. This is a high-end, historically accurate reissue of the pre-war 000-42 model—just like the one Eric Clapton used on MTV Unplugged. Only 104 of these were ever made, making it a rare and collectible piece. Built with hide-glue construction and a traditional dovetail neck joint, it features a solid Adirondack red spruce top treated with Martin’s Vintage Tone System (VTS), solid Madagascar rosewood back and sides, and a jet-black ebony fingerboard and bridge. It’s fitted with rare, reproduction Grover G-111 tuners with butterbean buttons and a 12:1 gear ratio.
This guitar also includes a long saddle, which improves energy transfer between the strings and the top, often resulting in greater responsiveness and tonal richness. The 000 body delivers a balanced tone with clear highs, warm lows, and excellent sustain—ideal for blues and fingerstyle playing. It has never been played with a pick and has been stored in a humidity-controlled space at around 60% RH. Condition is excellent, with only a few faint scuffs on the pickguard.
Local pickup only. $10,000 cash only. Call and ask for Robert.
