As the title says, I'm looking to trade my recently purchased manual transmission base Boxster for one with a tiptronic. Blasphemous, I know! Hear me out...
First off, this Boxster is EXTREMELY well sorted. The previous owner was absolutely meticulous and devoted to future proofing this car.
Just in one service, dated 5/20/24 and which cost $18,172, the following was performed:
Bore Scoping (to qualify for the IMS fix)
IMS solution installed
RMS (rear main seal)
Clutch assembly, including Fly Wheel
Spark plugs
Fuel Filter
Transmission oil service
Serpentine Belt replacement
Thermostat housing
Brake fluid flush
Cam timing adjuster ramps
Oil separator
Two pages detailing the above work are included with the pics.
Other recent work includes:
New Battery 4/2024
New Pilot Sport AS4 Tires 4/2024
New Windshield 5/2024
New Rear Control Arms 9/2024
New Expansion Tank 9/2024
Fresh oil change 8/2025
Also:
New window regulators (comes with a backup pair)
Coco Floor Mats (originals included)
3 keys. Per the previous owner, the remote key system is finicky. I just lock and arm the alarm manually, haven’t had any issues.
All this and more is documented in the binder, which dates back to the beginning of the car's ownership. I'm the third owner, having bought it two months ago. The car is Ocean Blue Metallic on Graphite Grey. The paint is not perfect, but still shines and the clear coat is mostly in excellent condition. There are small rock chips in the front. Wear is visible on the driver's seat. Upcoming recommended service: front motor mount. I was quoted $550 at a local Porsche shop.
The top works well and is in very good condition. The car has a clear title and no accidents on the Carfax. The title is in my name.
Car comes with two car covers, an indoor and an outdoor cover.
Needless to say when I found and bought this Boxster I was ecstatic and felt like I had won the lottery. But...I'm a piano player and composer. I injured my wrist many decades ago, and have recurring bouts of tendinitis when I get busy with work. When I saw this car listed I jumped on the opportunity to get such a well sorted Boxster, and crossed my fingers hoping that my wrists would hold up and allow me to enjoy the car. Unfortunately it's clear at this point that if I keep the car I will rarely be able to enjoy it. And in the periods where I am busiest, and would benefit the most from some fun drives, it's been totally off the table...I've had to prioritize resting my upper body.
I'm hoping to find another Boxster owner with a well sorted Tiptronic car which is interested in trading for a manual 986. If you have a well sorted roadster from another brand you'd like to offer in trade I'm willing to entertain it. If you'd like to buy the Boxster, feel free to send an offer.
